Grant George Hackett OAM, born 9 May 1980 in Australia, is an Australian swimmer. He is most well-known for his victory in the 1500m freestyle race at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney as well as the 2004 Summer Olympics. He is considered one of the most accomplished distance swimmers in history. He was also awarded a gold medal for his participation in the heats in the 4×200 m freestyle relay in Sydney. His versatility was a hallmark of his success. He holds the long-term world records for the 200 m and 800 m freestyle events. The 1500 m event was his favorite for 10 years. He held the title in finals in 1996 and 2007 World Aquatics Championships. He has 10 gold medals from the long-course world championships.

Hackett served as the Australian swimming team’s captain from 2005, when the position was reinstated, until his retirement in 2008.

Hackett was a Nine Network host, hosting Wide World of Sports. Hackett’s contract to be a Westpac Banking Corporation Ambassador was terminated in February 2012, after 13 years of service. However, he is still an employee.
